REBECA CALANOCE

​She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from the National University of La Plata, Argentina, and continued her academic training by earning a Master's degree in Biological Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. During her master’s program, she focused on evaluating mammal diversity in the tropical dry forests of the Mexican Pacific and identifying priority areas for conservation. She was honored by the National University of La Plata for her academic performance and received an honorable mention from the National Autonomous University of Mexico for her achievements during the master’s program. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Biological Sciences at the Institute of Ecology, National Autonomous University of Mexico, under the supervision of Dr. Gerardo Ceballos. Her doctoral research aims to evaluate the spatial ecology of jaguars and its implications for conservation, using telemetry data from the Calakmul region in Mexico. She is enthusiastic about the potential of her research to inform public policies aimed at preserving nature.
